ursa major and ursa minor

The big bear. This constellation is easy to spot because of the big dipper in the back. So whenever you see the big dipper you know you are looking in the back of Ursa major. Ursa minor is the little bear. This constellation has the little dipper in it. the little also has something important in it. It has the pole star. the pole star is the closest star to the poles. It also never moves. The little dipper is made up of seven stars like the big dipper. That is what Ursa major and Ursa minor is.

neutron stars

Neutron stars are small stars that are born when a super massive star dies and then if the gravity gets to dense it spins and the matter comes together and becomes a super small star. It then starts to spin faster and faster. Some neutron stars spin more than 600 times a second. That is what a neutron star is and an example of one.

Comets

Comets are like asteroids but when they get close to the sun they start to heat up and then they get a tail of gas and dust. They are really beautiful sights from the ground. All of the comets come from the kuiper belt. They all orbit around the sun. One famous comet is the Hailey comet and it completes a full orbit around the sun in 63 years. that is what a comet is and an example of a famous comet.

Asteroids

Asteroids are chunks of rock floating through space.  Sometimes an asteroid floats to close to the earth and then enters the atmosphere. the asteroid then starts to heat up and friction builds up. Then when the asteroid gets close to the ground it explodes sending chunks of rock flying towards the ground.  But if there is not that much friction when it enters it slams into the ground creating a huge hole in the ground. That hole in the ground is called a crater. In the desert of Arizona there is a crater called the barringer  crater. That is what an asteroid is and what happens when it hits earth.

stars

Stars are made when a cloud of molecular dust and hydrogen collapse under its own gravity. Then it starts to get smaller and smaller until nuclear fusion ignites in the stars core. Now it no longer has to shrink to get hotter it has now become a star. Our sun, was created when a star exploded and sent matter and gas out into the space. After that, the cloud collapsed and the sun was made. Then a cloud of gas and dust formed around the sun and the planets formed. That is how stars and the sun were made.
